Melbourne-based designer Bella Clark started her eponymous jewellery practice in late 2016. After completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT, a brief spell studying dental technology led Bella back to her first love: design. Her innate artistry was brought to life through gold and silversmithing studies, which formed the basis for the craft she practices today. Upon graduating, Bella emerged herself into developing and honing her vision for her first collection.
In the time since, Bella has established herself as an emerging local talent known for creating exquisite hand-crafted pieces from her Fitzroy studio. Across bespoke and ready to wear, Bella’s work reflects her unique take on contemporary femininity: romantic, bold and richly textured. Running throughout Bella’s work is a deep respect for sustainable, mindful design. Her commitment to hand crafting each piece herself enables Bella to minimise waste as she continues to seek out new methods of operating more sustainably, ethically and consciously.
Bella draws her inspiration from the important women in her life, particularly her grandmother, who has taught Bella the importance of slowing things down and taking in the beauty and bounty of the natural environment. By creating heirloom-worthy pieces, Bella hopes to encourage a deeper connection for the wearer, and champion the value of intergenerational storytelling.
Each and every piece by Bella Clark is single-handedly crafted by Bella within her Fitzroy studio, in Melbourne. Honouring a minimal-waste regime and uniquely standalone designs, each order is considered separately from the last, and created only once the order has been received.
This responsible way of working means needless inventory is eliminated, materials are never wasted, and individualism is preserved; your jewellery is intimately yours. You will always know who designed, crafted, and finessed your jewellery, and where this all unfurls.
